Dress For Cycling In Cold Weather

65°F – 70°F

Start with base layer; short-sleeved jersey; shorts; short finger gloves; socks

A shortfinger glove

60°F – 65°F

Add arm warmers; full-finger gloves

An arm warmer

55°F – 60°F
Swap in knickers or knee warmers; thicker socks

 50°F – 55°F 

Swap in leg warmers; Add a vest

A riding vest

45°F – 50°F 
Swap in thicker gloves; a long-sleeved jersey; Add toe covers; a sock layer; ear covers (if you prize comfort over style)

40°F – 45° F

Swap in tights; long-sleeved base layer; a thin hat (you may need to loosen your helmet) Tip: Bring rain gear: Forty degree and drizzle will chill you faster than 15 degrees and snow.

A long-sleeved base layer

35°f – 40°f
Swap in shoe covers or winter shoes; thick hat or balaclava

Shoe covers

30°f – 35°f 
Swap in heavier tights; lobster gloves or mittens

 25°f – 30°f 

Add a second long-sleeved jersey; a mid layer sock

Add base-layer short and/or knee warmers under tights
